On 13 June, from 13:00 to 15:00, children, families, older people and cycling enthusiasts will be able to ride the closed 10km route through the city, just hours before professional cyclists race along the same roads.
The event will begin at the finish line near the National Gallery of Denmark.
The public ride celebrates Copenhagen’s strong cycling culture and gives residents and visitors the chance to take part in the atmosphere surrounding Copenhagen Sprint.
Participants can join or leave the route at eight designated points. Music, activities and a festive finish area at Østerport will also be part of the celebrations.

Celebrating Copenhagen’s cycling culture
“I am really looking forward to getting on my bike and experiencing the car-free route through Copenhagen,” said Sisse Marie Welling, Lord Mayor of Copenhagen.
“I hope many Copenhageners and visitors will join us. It is not every day you get the chance to cycle through the city without cars on the road.”
Kenneth Øhrberg Krag, chief executive of the Danish Cyclists’ Federation, said the event was “a celebration on two wheels”.
“It is a tribute to Copenhagen’s and Denmark’s cycling culture, which is truly unique in an international context,” he said.
“Last year’s ride through a sunny, car-free Copenhagen was magical for both children and adults, and we hope to recreate that experience this year.”
National partnership
The public cycling event is free and open to everyone.
It forms part of Copenhagen Sprint and is organised by a national partnership that includes the City of Copenhagen, the Municipality of Roskilde, the Danish government, the Danish Cycling Federation, Sport Event Denmark, Wonderful Copenhagen and the Copenhagen Sprint event company.
