Ukraine House in Denmark is taking part in 3daysofdesign, Copenhagen’s largest design festival, for the third consecutive year with an exhibition exploring contemporary Ukrainian design.
The exhibition, Form in the Making, is presented in collaboration with the Ukrainian Association of Furniture Manufacturers, the Embassy of Ukraine in Denmark, and curators Anait Danielian and Larysa Tsybina. It examines how Ukrainian designers create objects across different scales of production, from industrial manufacturing to small craft workshops.
At the heart of the exhibition is the relationship between idea, material and production method. It asks whether design is shaped by creative concepts or by the technologies and processes used to realise them.

Adaptability in practice
Organisers say contemporary Ukrainian design is characterised by adaptability, with designers and manufacturers combining manual craftsmanship and industrial technologies to respond to changing conditions. Many work across factories, independent studios and artisan workshops, creating a flexible approach to production.
The exhibition is divided into three sections: Industrial Design, Craft and Functional Art. Together, they highlight how Ukrainian designers operate between mass production and unique objects, while also exploring the boundary between utilitarian design and artistic expression.
By bringing together works from across these fields, Form in the Making offers an insight into the evolving landscape of Ukrainian design and the ways in which form emerges through the interaction of concept, material and production.
